Winters Real Estate

Well, here we it is the last day of September and the third quarter, no, not football, the fiscal quarter.  I said that to one of my clients today and all he could think ?  Anyway, I explained it and he got it!

I have been working hard on getting a purchase of a triplex closed this month.  It was supposed to close on September 10, then the 26, then the 30th.  Now, we are hoping for October !   Well, we will be glad to get this closed since it was extremely hard to get an appraisal on  a triplex in Winters since I can’t remember the last time a triplex was sold in Winters.  i think this will be a good sale for both the sellers and the buyers.  I’ll keep you posted.  www.sandyvickrey.com

The day after, Black Friday

Well, I hope you all had a great day yesterday with family and friends.  I got to spend the day with my sister and her husband, my brother and his family and my husband and my youngest, Devon.  My oldest son, Chad wasn’t able to join us nor was my son, Jack.  Jack had to work on Wed until 4pm in Monterey, CA and then report back to work this morning at 6AM.  Notime to go anywhere.  Well, we will make up for it at Christmas.   My sister, Vicki did a fantastic job cooking the turkey, no brine this year.  It was delicious.   She makes the stuffing from scratch just like my mom used to do and then two kinds of cranberry sauce like my maternal grandmother made.  She carries on all these cooking traditions.    What did you do for Thanksgiving?

There is a fire in them thar hills!

Filed under: CA, Family Life, Winters, Yolo County real estate — svickrey @ 3:53 AM

Last Friday we went up to Lake Berryessa so our son, Chad, could wake board and to take our AFS student, Rita, from Italy, class of 1980, for dinner.  It was very hot and a night on the lake sounded  relaxing.   When we got up there we discovered there was a fire and the fire fighters were out  in force.  Attached, are pictures  of the helicopters fighting the fire.   They are coming into the cove to get water to dump on the fire.  It was an awesome sight!

Tonight, Friday, August 28, 2009 is the annual Earthquake Festival in downtown Winters.  Come on down to Main Street tonight and enjoy the festivities.  There will be great food, and music.  This is an annual event sponsored by the Winters Chamber of Commerce.  We celebrate the earthquake that hit Winters in 1892 that destroyed a lot of the downtown buildings.  It is a great way to reconnect with a lot of friends.  Come and have some fun and enjoy the new scene.

Our State Fair is a Great State Fair!

Filed under: CA, Family Life, Winters — svickrey @ 3:58 PM

I am off to help out at the Realty World Capital Trade Group’s booth at the California State Fair.  This is the third year I  have helped.  I have so manyfond memories of going to the fair when I was a kid.    When I was growing up my dad judged the county exhibits, that was a big part of the experience.  How many turtles and gold fish did I bring home?  Totally lost count.  Every evening when it got dark they had fireworks which was huge attraction.  I believe this is still a tradition and that they are set off over by the race track.  Going to the fair is a tradition I carried on with my own kids.  So, grab the family or friends and head on over to Sacramento and have some fun and come by our booth and say hi.   Have a good weekend!

What is an REO?

Filed under: Uncategorized — svickrey @ 4:11 AM

I am frequently asked, “What is an REO and how can I buy a foreclosed home?  An REO is a home that the bank has taken through  the foreclosure process and has taken back into their possession.  Once the bank takes it back, then they eventually put it on the market to sell.  Most of our inventory this year has been foreclosed or REO property.  So, if you are looking to purchase an REO, I am here to help you.  Give me a call and I can give you more info on the process.  Let me know if this info was helpful.

New listings in Winters, CA!

Filed under: CA, Winters, Yolo County real estate — svickrey @ 3:14 AM

WOW!  There were not one but two new listings in the past few days in town.   Unbelievable!  I have been waiting for listings like these, how about you!?  These are finally some nice larger homes but not too expensive for sale.  One is on Snapdragon that was a short sale for a very long time and the other is on Neimann Street.  Very exciting to finally have some new inventory and some move up housing.  I’ll keep you posted.

Tyler and his prized turkey

Tyler and his prized turkey

It was an exciting time in the auction arena yesterday at the Yolo County Fair.  The Winters FFA was well represented.  Many of the Grand Champion or Reserve Champion animals belonged to Winters FFA members and of course, my nephew, Tyler was there with his Grand Champion turkey.  Prices were sure down this year, I think the Grand Champion steer only got $2.75 a pound.   Too bad for the kids who put so much time and effort into their projects but a really lesson that there is no guarantee of any profit when it comes to making a living in agriculture, or any small business for that matter.  Kudos to all the kids and their families for being there and supporting them.   There is a lot of hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make this a successful event.

Grand Champion, you Turkey!

Filed under: Family Life, Winters, Yolo County real estate — svickrey @ 4:15 AM

My nephew, Tyler Tufts, had the Grand Champion turkey at the Yolo County Fair yesterday!  He is a member of the Winters High School FFA club.  He is the first member to ever raise turkeys and he is the first Grand Champion winner.    Needless to say, we are all very proud of him.  No, they are not wild turkeys, they are domestic, plain old white, Thanksgiving turkeys.  He could only enter one but raised 5.  If you want to buy one and support the FFA and write off your Thanksgiving dinner give me a call.  The auction is Saturday afternoon in Woodland at the Fair Grounds if you are looking for something to do.

I’m a Video Star!

Filed under: CA, Family Life, Winters, Yolo County real estate — svickrey @ 4:35 AM

Can you believe it?  Neither can I.  However, I had a videographer come to Winters last week and we made a video of my new listing at 106 Russell Street.  I think it might be rather boring but it is a really cute house and it was a fun experience.  Mike, the man with the camera fell in love with Winters.  Think he will do a nice job for me considering what he had to work with.  When I get it, which should be soon, I will post it here.  Think I should take some acting lessons.   Anyway, the point is to get the house sold and we are working on that.

The Lion Roars Tonight!

Filed under: CA, Family Life, Winters — svickrey @ 12:31 AM

Taking the whole family, yes, all five of us to see The Lion King in Sacramento.  I have seen it once and had to make sure everyone saw it.  What a nice way to celebrate Father’s Day.  I know even the “old man”  will enjoy it.  If you have never had a chance try and find it palying somewhere never you.  It is very magical and loved how creative all the costumes and props are.  It is truly an amazing experience.  Hope you all enjoy tomorrow.
